About Access to the Shoalhaven for Everyone

Access to the Shoalhaven for Everyone is a project designed to provide information on accessible tourism facilities in the Shoalhaven.

Tourism providers, in the Shoalhaven, are invited to be part of the project. Those who are interested in being included will need to have an Access Appraisal undertaken by Shoalhaven City Council Community Development Officer for Aged & Disability. Training for this worker was provided by Institute of Access Australia . Information from these inspections form the basis of the web page descriptions and appears with the written authority of the tourism provider.

The project was funded by the Commonwealth Department of Transport & Regional Services, through the Regional partnerships Program and sponsored by Shoalhaven City Council, in partnership with Essential Personnel.

The Access the Shoalhaven for Everyone website is about providing information to a major portion of the community.
It is with great pleasure the Australian Government plays a part in this significant project, just one the many ways the Government continues to support people with disabilities and their carers.

The Access the Shoalhaven for Everyone website is an exciting initiative and one I encourage all those planning a holiday in the Shoalhaven to use and enjoy.

Message from the Mayor

Not only does the Shoalhaven attract more than 2.6 million tourists each year there are about 92,000 citizens who live here.

Shoalhaven City Council is intentionally working to ensure that all people, regardless of their mobility or ability, can access as many parts of the city as they desire. It is essential that all citizens can walk, ride, cycle, roll or stroll to many parts of our wonderful city. New playgrounds, cycleway, footpaths, public amenities and public buildings are now accessible for all people.

Council has also provided two access maps for Nowra and Ulladulla the two main towns in our city. These maps provide essential information on how people can access these towns and what facilities are available and where.

Whether you are adventurous or prefer a more leisurely route through the city, we are ensuring that we cater for people with different needs.

I hope that you are able to find and enjoy all those sensational places that the Shoalhaven offers.
